During our stay in KL, hubby and I decided to be our usual 'adventurous' selves and decided to take an impromptu drive down to Singapore ourselves to shop, eat... and most importantly to see my dear brother, Sam.
The journey from KL to to causeway took three and a half hours... which I believe it pretty efficient. We took another half an hour to make our way to Sam's place in Whampoa.
After setting down our bags at his flat, the first thing we did was to look for food. Sam took us to a nice chicken rice place along Balestier Road called Boon Tong Kee.
After food, it was time to explore the second most favourite Singaporean past time: Shopping!
Since the last time we were in Singapore almost two years ago, Orchard Road has sprouted yet more shopping malls. We decided to check out 'Orchard Central'.
Very ultra modern architecture. I snapped a photo of this walkway which had some pretty feature lighting on the ceiling.
There was also an indoor rock climbing wall... I was quite keen to try it out, but the other two guys said 'maybe some other time'.
Outside the mall, there were some street performers... I really liked the upbeat drum renditions! Sam said it was a pity music & art students in Malaysia rarely do street performances like this... it's good practice and experience and really contributes to the vibrancy and atmosphere in the central shopping strips.
Sam was a very obliging and patient host.
Here he is waiting for us outside Body Shop.
I think he is getting hungry...
Time to feed the host...
A well deserved reward!
Actually he also benefited from the shopping expedition. Here he is with his new gear. The Roger Federrer Wilson K-factor tennis racquet.
As you can see, he can't stop admiring it.
Thanks for being such a good host, Sam.
